Winter Hiking Tour 2018

Three of Jósvafő’s seven streams flow together in front of the Manor House Environmental Education Centre in Jósvafő - the Jósva, Kecső and Tohonya. Even during the winter months these streams do not freeze, exiting their underground caverns at 10C. From this peaceful place, the hike winds up the Tohonya Nature Trail to the Imre Vass Cave. Along the way, it is quite possible that we will see or hear signs of large predators such as wolves and lynx. From the Tohonya-Kuriszlán Plateau, the tour returns to Jósvafő where hot tea and fresh biscuits/scones await them.

Date and Time: January 27, 2018; 10:00
Location: Jósvafő and its environs
Meeting Point: Manor House Environmental Education Centre, Jósvafő
Distance and Duration: 7km, 4 hours
Tickets: 3000 Huf/person, or 1500 Huf/person if you come with a group of 10 or more people; 500 Huf/student or senior citizen; 5000 Huf/family

Places must be reserved by January 25th. Tours will only depart if a minimum of 5 people or 5 full-price tickets are sold.

More Information and Booking: Tourinform-Aggtelek Tel: 06/48-503-000. naturinform.anp@gmail.com; www.anp.hu.

February 10 and 24. 1000

Winter Tour on Esztramos Hill and the Aladár Földvári Cave

The tour departs from Bódvarákó and follows a former mining road to the mine head 305 meters above sea level. From there, a beautiful panorama opens over the Bódva Valley, including the villages of Tornaszentandrás and Bódvaszilas. If the weather is kind to us wonderful pictures should be possible (amateur and professional photographers are welcome). The surface tour then heads underground into the spectacular Aladár Földvári Cave which is normally closed to tourism. Check out the “cave popcorn” and “moon milk” karst formations! Hot mulled wine will await guests at the end of the tour.

Date and Time: February 10 and 24, 10:00

Meeting Point: Rákóczi Cave Esztramos Ticket Office, Bódvarákó

Distance and Duration: 3-4 hours

Tickets: 3000 HUF, 1500 HUF for students (with student ID). Because of the difficulty of the cave part of the tour, participants must be at least 10 years of age.
